The sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage Daccaa owes its origin from the "Islamia Yatim Khana" which was established by the Late Lamented Nawab Sir Salimullah Bahadur of Dacca, K.C.S.I.G.C.I.E.(1875-1915) in 1909.It was financeed by the Late Nawab Bahadur out of his personal funds till his death in 1915.When the institution was removed to a hired building at Lalbag Road, Dacca and placed under the management of a Committee.It was removed to the present site in a small building in 1918.

The institution was in a moribund condition till May, 1923 when Khan Bahadur fariduddin Ahmed Siddiqui took it up as Hony. Secretary under the Presidentship of Late Nawab Bahadur and renamed it as "Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage".The Khan Bahadur worked for it with unflagging zeal till his death on the 18th July, 1949.Mainly through his sincer efforts, backed by the munificence and public spirit of a number of noble souls, the names of some of them the orphanage gratefully bears in its various words and wings, the orphanage grew from strength to strength and attained its present status.

On the death of Khan Bahadur Fariduddin ahmed Siddiqui the responsibilities of the orphanage fell on the shoulder of his life long friend and colleague Chowdhury Golam Satter who continued to be Hony.Secretary of the Orphanage till his death at the ripe old age of 85 years on the 25th April, 1960.It become then my proud privilege to step into his shoes and since than I have been working as Hony.Secretary of the Orphanage.

On the death of Nawab K. Habibullah Bahadur on the 21st November, 1958 his worthy son and successor, Major Nawab K.Hasan Askari, was elected as President of the Orphanage,thereby upholding the noble traditions of his illustrious predecessors.It is my pleasent duty to place on record our grateful thanks to our benefactors.As for those benefactors who have left this world , we pray for their souls may rest in peace and may ALLAH recompense them thouse and fold for their munificent.......
